Scholar

The Queen City Ivy and Pearls Foundation awards these scholarships in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® , Rho Psi Omega Chapter.   These college scholarships are offered for the current academic year, to minority male and female high school seniors within the Mecklenburg County, NC area. Eligible students must attend, beginning Fall of the following academic year, an accredited four-year College or University.

The QCIP Foundation and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® , Rho Psi Omega Chapter provide scholarships to continue its commitment to cultivating and encouraging high scholastic standards. We have awarded numerous scholarships to deserving minority high school students within Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. Interested high school seniors should review the scholarship application to determine further eligibility.

Applying for a Scholarship

The Queen City Ivy & Pearls Foundation is dedicated to enhancing opportunities for families through the availability of scholarships. We encourage you to review the scholarship listings below. Each scholarship has its own application period and eligibility criteria, so make sure to read each opportunity carefully before submitting your application.

2025 Scholarship Season

The African-American Scholarship application period is closed and will re-open in 2026. Deadline: TBA. This annual scholarship competition is open to high school seniors (please see the list of eligible counties below) of African American or African diaspora culture. Scholarship recipients will be awarded a one-time scholarship to help with college expenses.​

​Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities (church, school, community service)

  • Resident of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Union, Lincoln, York/Union, SC counties

  • Entering a 4 year college or university as a freshman in the Fall immediately following graduation

 

Submit all REQUIRED DOCUMENTS listed below. Partial applications will be disqualified.

  1. Completed Application

  2. One-page typed essay following one of the writing prompts provided

  3. An official transcript, listing class rank and GPA

  4. Copy of acceptance letter from the institution the student plans to attend (if available)

  5. Please submit a digital photo. The photo must be submitted in one of these file formats: .jpj, .gif, or .png (Senior photo is highly suggested)

 

​* Recipients who are selected will provide proof of attending a four-year college or university may receive a one-time scholarship of up to $5,000 scholarship. Application packets MUST be submitted ELECTRONICALLY by Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

​​You must complete the Google form and attach a PDF file with all the required application documents listed above. The PDF file should be named with the applicants full name. Application packets MUST be submitted ELECTRONICALLY by the deadline.
